About NOSEP-1
Developed by Mahieu and colleagues (Crit Care Med 2000) in a NICU cohort with suspected nosocomial infection. The score combines five routinely available parameters (CRP, platelets, neutrophil %, temperature, PN duration) and was designed as a "second look" for infants already under clinical suspicion — not a screening tool for asymptomatic infants. A score ≥ 8 was the optimal cut-off in the derivation set.
