NICU Copilot

Corrected GA Calculator

Post-menstrual age (PMA) for preterm infants

Calculate Corrected Gestational Age

Corrected GA (PMA)
30w 2d PMA

Formula

PMA (days) = (GA weeks × 7) + GA days + DOL

Divide by 7 to express as weeks + days.

Worked example

A 28w2d infant on DOL 14:

(28 × 7) + 2 + 14 = 196 + 2 + 14 = 212 days = 30 weeks 2 days = 30w2d PMA

PMA vs corrected age

  • PMA — used during the NICU stay; GA at birth + chronological age
  • Corrected age — used after term; chronological age minus weeks of prematurity
  • Stop correcting — typically at 2 years of age (sometimes 3) for developmental milestones
